My Not So Little Man
Several weeks ago I took Toni, Bayleigh, and Cody to the pediatrician for their yearly check-ups. Now, you need to understand that the girls, including Randi, have always been small. They came into this world very petite (5lbs 15oz, 5lbs 15oz, and 6lbs), and have remained so through their young lives. I know for a fact that none of them weighed more than 35-37 lbs when they started kindergarten.
When the children are called back to the exam room the first thing they do is weigh them. So up goes Bayleigh. She weighs in at 39lbs....now, that's big for Miss Bayleigh. Up comes Toni and she weighs a mighty 41lbs. (Yeah...we are finally putting on some weight.)
Now it's Cody's turn. I have noticed lately that when I pick him up it seems to be more difficult. I just assumed that I was tired and getting old. I expected him to weigh somewhere around 30-32lbs. Then I hear the nurse say, "Good job Cody! You weigh 36lbs!" Oh My Goodness!! When did he get so BIG?????? This is my baby....he shouldn't weigh 36 lbs!!!! Of course this could explain why his 3T shirts seem a little small these days. :)
So I guess, physically, he's not my lil' man anymore. (Of course he will always be mama's baby! LOL!) I don't know why I am surprised by his weight. He was born weighing 8lbs 7oz and has been eating like a grown man since then. The time just seems to fly so fast!
Hope everyone has a nice relaxing weekend!

Tag...I'm It!
Okay, one of my dear "blogging-buddies" seems to have tagged me. The instructions were to go to my pictures and find the fourth folder. Open the fourth picture and blog it. Here it is...

Upon first glance, I started to cheat and pick another picture. I thought, "This isn't a very good picture. It's too busy." But then I stopped and really looked at it. It was then that I decided that it truly gives a good glimpse of my life. First there is Randi, my first born, in true form. Her jiggling and wiggling her little body with her hair flying all over the place. Randi has been a mover and shaker since before she was born. The next thing that I noticed is all the girls. With it being a picture of mini-cheer camp, there are a lot of GIRLS. With a household of girls myself, the picture just seems to fit. If you look to the background you see children that are currently in Chris' band, which of course if a very big part of our lives. And if you look really, really close one of the young men playing the bass drum is actually one of my "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (math team member). So this fourth picture, in the fourth album that seems to simply be a photo of the mini-cheer camp pep-rally, is truly a "good picture" of my life! :)

What Would You Do For Peace?
While filtering through Randi's papers I came across an in-class writing assignment titled, What Would You Do For Peace? The paper discussed how Martin Luther King, Jr. had won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and used the awarded money to benefit groups working for justice in a peaceful way. The students were to write an "essay" discussing how they would use the prize money to promote world peace. Randi's words are as follows:
I would give my money to homeless people because everybody needs a home. I would buy water for a drought. I would give money to schools and poor people. I would give some money to the search team to buy more equipment to help find people and (give money to) stores so they don't have to go through bankruptcy. I would give some money to nursing homes so they can buy more medicine. I would give some to people who don't have cars. I would give money to the army. I will give money to peopole who need food and people who need clothes because no one needs to wear the same clothes everyday. I would give the rest of my money to people who work for gas stations so we can have more gas.
These are the words of our third grade daughter. I must admit that this "moderately liberal" mommy is quite proud.

Party Girls
Toni and Bayleigh celebrated their 6th birthday Saturday, January 17. The festivities started Friday with cupcakes at school and a special birthday lunch with their daddy. Saturday the kids and I traveled to Mom and Dad's for a "mini" party and presents. Sunday was an afternoon filled with friends and family at Chuck E Cheese. We were all very happy to have cousin Kate and Connor join us this year! The pic of the girls together is at Mom's and the two single pics are at Chuck E Cheese.

A Little Bragging
I just had to do a little bragging. Every semester each teacher at the girls' elementary school picks one student to be knighted at a special ceremony. A special knight, Sir Barry, arrives at the school to speak about having good character and being an all around good student. Those children displaying knightly honor receive a medal, "knight" blanket, and several other goodies. Well this semester, Randi was chosen from her class. (Way to Go Big Girl!!!) This proud mama just had to brag a little! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Where Does It Come From???
Could someone please tell me where all the laundry comes from? I mean, I am beginning to believe that someone is sneaking into our house and leaving their laundry for me to do! There is no way our family wears that many clothes. In order to keep up, I must wash at least 1 to 2 loads of laundry a day during the week and somewhere around 3 to 5 a day on the weekends. How does this happen??? If I miss a day, it begins to grow like a freakin' MONSTER, consuming the laundry room and spreading throughout the house.....just how does it do this?!?!?
The laundry isn't the only thing with a mind of its own. The dirty dishes have begun to procreate! If left in the sink for more than a couple of hours, they begin to multiply like a very bad bacteria....I just don't understand!
If anyone discovers who is leaving their dirty dishes and laundry at our house or if anyone finds out how the laundry and dishes are growing exponentially, please let me know. This Mom of Many would greatly appreciate any assistance in the matter!
Until I crawl out from under the dishes and laundry,
Monica :)

Happy Birthday to My Lil' Man! :)
Today is Cody's 3rd birthday. My, how time has flown. It seems like just yesterday we were "expecting" him. We had a nice little Shrek party with the family this evening and were very glad our Nana, Nana-Pawpaw, Meme, and Meme-Pawpaw were able to join us. Below you will find a couple of pics from his special day. Happy Birthday Cody!

Yep, changed it again...LOL!
I decided to provide you and myself with a new background. Yes, this is the second profile in two days. However, you know I like a little flare in my background. (This is what happens when you also myspace...LOL!) Anyway, I unfortunately have to go back to work tomorrow. This of course means the postings and profile changes will be few and far between. I will leave with a nice sunny background and hopes of an early spring! :)

Jet Skiing in January
That's right...you read correctly...jet skiing in January. With it being a nice 75 degrees outside today, the girls couldn't help ask to go jetskiing....LOL! They are truly their daddy's girls! I wish it could stay this warm the rest of the winter...hmmmm........maybe we should move somewhere along the equator......yep, that'll be the day....hahaha! We are true blue or should I say brown/gray freshwater people. No oceans for these Northeast Texans.....LOL!
